Selecting a new apartment is a BIG decision.

Depending on the lease that you sign, you could end up living there for 6 months to a year, which is a long time if you are not absolutely in love with your new home.

But how do you go about finding that dream location?

While we already dealt with a couple of ways that you ensure your apartment search is a success such as setting a budget and looking for your new place during the offseason, there are several other tips and tricks we are going to share with you to ensure that you find the apartment of your dreams… and don’t have to break the bank to do it.

1. Eliminate the Bad Apples

You know the old saying “Time is money”? Well, it’s true, and it can save you a lot of headaches and wasted time while you search for your new apartment.

While you should always visit apartments in person before signing the lease or agreeing to rent, you should narrow down your search and eliminate apartments that you don’t feel are a “Heck Yes” from what you can see online.

2. Bring Along Your Roommates/Significant Other

If you are planning on renting out a place with roommates or staying in your new apartment with your spouse or significant other, they NEED to be present and see the apartment for themselves.

Just because you love it does not mean that they will, and there is nothing worse than signing a six-month lease and having to live with someone who is upset with you because you forced them into an apartment they did not like.
