We all want our apartments to be an extension of our personality, we want them to be apart of us, to be home. Nothing feels better than having family and friends over who compliment your pads style or ask to come over because of how much they enjoy your place.

And while creating this kind of atmosphere is rather easy when you own a home or a condo, making the necessary changes and renovations to an apartment to make it feel like home can be a trickier situation.

Depending on where you live, how long you plan to stay there and who your landlord is, getting the renovations or making the changes you want can be a painful and drawn out process, however, it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few tips to help you get the apartment you want.

  1. Make it Clear You Plan to Stay

It’s hard for anyone, especially a landlord to turn down long term passive income. By making sure your landlord knows that you plan on sticking around, and certain renovations will help ensure that, you will increase your odds immensely. Of course this is only true if you actually plan on staying, however, if you are living somewhere temporarily, then it may be a little superfluous to try and have renovations done for a short time stay.

  1. Offer to Help Pay

While some land lords will pay for the renovations themselves, it will always behoove you to offer to help defray the cost and even complete some of the renovations yourself.
